Sleep Therapy
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP): A CPAP machine is used to help people with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) breathe properly at night allowing them to sleep well and feel rested when they wake up in the morning. At Mountaineer Home Medical (MHM) we provide our patients with equipment that has the latest technology in CPAP Therapy. Our equipment is quiet and user friendly which allows the patient to fall asleep quickly and receive the full benefit from using the CPAP machine.
BiPAP/BiLEVEL- BiPAP or BiLevel is a machine similar to a CPAP but instead of providing one continuous pressure, it offers 2 different pressure levels. BiPAP can be used to treat patients with OSA and other types of breathing disorders. Mountaineer Home Medical provides patients with BiPAP equipment that is quiet and patient friendly.
Masks- In order to use CPAP or BiPAP equipment a patient must wear some type of mask. The mask is the connecting point of the equipment and the patient. The most important part of a patient using CPAP or BiPAP therapy is the ability of the patient to use the equipment. If a patient cannot tolerate the mask on their face they will not be able to use the equipment and therefore not receive the therapeutic benefits of the CPAP/BiPAP therapy.
At Mountaineer Home Medical we provide a large selection of styles and brands of masks for our patients to choose from. MHM carries a variety of masks including; Nasal Masks that cover just the patient’s nose, masks made of a soft rubbery cushion that comes in contact with the patient’s face, masks with a gel filled cushion that comes in contact with the patient’s face, masks that cover both the patient’s nose and mouth (also known as a full face mask), and masks that are simply designed to be used for the patient’s mouth. MHM also carries a selection of Nasal Pillows. This type of mask system sits in the opening of the nares in a patient’s nose.
There are a large number of mask styles and brands to choose from. If we do not have the particular mask a patient would like in stock, Mountaineer Home Medical will order that mask for OUR patient.
Humidity: The equipment Mountaineer Home Medical provides is capable of being integrated with a cool or heated humidifier. If one of our patients is in need of humidification with either their CPAP or BiPAP equipment, a humidifier can be directly attached to the equipment and the patient will not have worry about a big bulky system in their home. Integrated humidity whether it be cool or heated allows for a more patient friendly machine.
Titrating CPAP: Mountaineer Home Medical has a titrating CPAP machine available to help patients and their physicians monitor a patient’s level of need for CPAP therapy.
At Mountaineer Home Medical all of our CPAP/BiPAP patients will be setup by a Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist. Our Staff of Respiratory Therapists have over 30 years of experience collectively. There is always a Respiratory Therapist available for consultation and questions that our patients may have.
