Specialized Respiratory Therapy Products

Patients with Tracheostomy:

Mountaineer Home Medical (MHM) will provide to our patients who have a tracheostomy, all the equipment and supplies necessary for them to be home.  MHM offers suction equipment that is capable of being used inside and outside the home. The portable suction equipment offered by MHM has AC/DC and battery capabilities with an adjustable suction setting. MHM also provides aerosol compressors in the home to provide proper humidification for our patients. MHM carries a large selection and size range of suction catheters for the smallest infant to the largest adult. Mountaineer Home Medical carries all the necessary disposable supplies needed by our patients with a tracheostomy, including Trach Care Kits, Drain sponges, Trach Tube Holders, Yaukaur Suction catheters, HME’s and much more. If our patient needs a product, we will get it for them! 

Bronchial Hygiene/Secretion Mobilization Products:

Acapella: Acapella is a new chest physical-therapy (CPT) device with an innovative vibratory positive-pressure (PEP) therapy system; it combines the benefits of PEP therapy and airway vibrations to mobilize pulmonary secretions. The product is intended for use by patients with lung disease and associated secretory problems (COPD, asthma, cystic fibrosis). Regular usage of the device can significantly improve the clearance of secretions in a patients lungs.

TheraPEP: Positive expiratory pressure is self administrating. The process is to take a deep breath in and blow out with moderate force, against a resistance. This resistance keeps the airways open allowing air to move secretions so they can be coughed out. 20 deep breaths against the resistance followed by a huff cough maneuver is the usual sequence. The huff cough is a forced exhalation with the vocal cords open and it sounds like you are saying the word "Huff".

Flutter Valve: This is a hand held device that functions like PEP working from the inside out. Exhalation through the flutter results in a vibrating of the airway walls loosening secretions. The airways are open during expiration to mobilize secretions. The positioning or angle of the flutter will determine the vibration level. A huff cough maneuver is used to remove secretions.

Pulse Oximeters:

Mountaineer Home Medical has various styles of pulse oximeters that are available to our patients. MHM can provide our patients with a digit pulse oximeter that is accurate and small enough to fit in a purse.

Infant Apnea Monitors:

Mountaineer Home Medical supplies patients with high tech infant Apnea Monitors manufactured by CAS Medical. The Ami Plus monitor allows the security of knowing that the child can be checked remotely by a Registered Respiratory Therapist 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  Our experienced staff of Respiratory Therapists is always available to our patients!
